2015-10-03 Economy Run

The 57th Annual Oakleaf Model A Club Color Tour/Economy Run on Saturday October 3rd was a huge success. There were 14 Model A's, 1 classic and 2 modern cars on this journey.

Club members met at the Marathon gas station at Opdyke and South Blvd. and began measuring the gas tanks at 8:15 am. and then proceeded to the Tim Horton's next door.  The group departed promptly at 9:00 am.

The cars traveled to the Ypsilanti Automotive Museum in Ypsilanti. The museum was a Hudson dealership from 1927 thru 1958 and is the home of the National Hudson Motor Car Museum. The museum holds many cars from the local Willow Run Plant and Ypsilanti area, including Hudsons, Kaiser-Frazer, Chevrolet Corvair, Chevrolet Nova, Tucker replica, and Hydramatic Transmission.

Club members enjoyed a fabulous lunch at the Sidetrack Grill in Ypsilanti's historic Depot town which has served as a restaurant since 1850.

Final gas tank measurements, at the conclusion of the 76 mile journey, were conducted at the Sunoco gas station in New Hudson.

Congratulations to Jim Zellen our first place winner with 18.37 MPG, Bill Franzel in second place with 18.13 MPG, and Arsey Miller in third place with 18.10 MPG. (Submitted by Bill Sturgeon)
